German-Russian Chamber of Commerce reports on Russia's windfall from Middle East conflict
The German-Russian Chamber of Commerce stated that Russia is generating billions in additional revenue due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. Chairman Matthias Schepp noted that Russia benefits from higher commodity prices as it utilizes alternative export routes. Monthly profits from oil, gas, and fertilizer exports are estimated to exceed 10 billion euros, or approximately 11.54 billion dollars. With Brent crude prices rising above 111 dollars per barrel, Russia's annual revenue is projected to increase by 71.8 billion dollars over the current budget plan. The original budget was based on a reference price of 59 dollars per barrel, which previously resulted in a deficit. Experts estimate that current price levels could generate 50 billion dollars in extra annual revenue from oil sales alone. These developments follow a significant spike in global oil prices, which are currently about 40 dollars higher than pre-war levels. The report highlights Russia's role as a major beneficiary of the ongoing tensions in the region.
