Limassol 2030 presents final report on European Capital of Culture bid

On April 2, 2025, the Limassol 2030 organization presented its final report to the Limassol Municipal Council, concluding a three-year effort to win the European Capital of Culture title. The bid was ultimately awarded to Larnaca. The organization, established in November 2022 by the Limassol Municipality, centered its proposal on the 'The Understory' concept, which aimed to highlight the city's diverse and less-visible communities amidst rapid urban development. Between 2023 and 2025, the project implemented 187 participatory actions including workshops and public consultations. These events saw the active involvement of 2,491 participants from various professional and social backgrounds. The report details the administrative, artistic, and international collaborations developed during the process. Moving forward, the city council is set to decide on the future role and structure of the organization based on the established tools and networks. Limassol 2030 has expressed formal support and congratulations to Larnaca for their success.
