Lemesos 2030 presents final candidacy report to municipal council

On April 2, 2025, the Lemesos 2030 organization formally presented its comprehensive bid report to the Limassol Municipal Council, marking the conclusion of its cultural capital candidacy cycle. Although the European Capital of Culture title was awarded to Larnaka 2030, the report documents three years of cultural planning and community engagement. The candidacy was centered on the concept of The Understory, which sought to highlight less visible urban voices and foster inclusive development in a city experiencing rapid construction. Between 2023 and 2025, the organization conducted 187 participatory actions, including workshops and consultations, which engaged 2,491 people. Furthermore, the initiative successfully established a network of 130 local and 171 international partnerships. The report also highlights the organization's administrative development since its founding in November 2022. Municipal officials are now tasked with deciding the future role and structure of the Lemesos 2030 organization, as well as how to utilize the established partnerships and tools moving forward.
