Cyprus Sports Organization hosts athlete award ceremonies

The Cyprus Sports Organization (CSO) participated in two separate award ceremonies held in Nicosia to honor local athletes. On April 2, 2026, the CSO attended the Cyprus Swimming Federation's annual awards at the Olympic Hall, where board member Alkis Galatopoulos announced a budget increase of 45,500 euros for the federation for 2026. During this event, athlete Andreas Gavriil was recognized for his bronze medal at the Deaflympics, and the late Dinos Michaelidis was honored with an award of merit. CSO officials also detailed infrastructure projects, noting the completion of the Nicosia Swimming Pool, upcoming upgrades to the Aglantzia facility, and ongoing work at Geroskipou in Paphos. Previously, on March 31, 2026, CSO representatives attended the Cyprus University Sports Federation (KOPA) awards. At this event, CSO President Giannis Ioannou highlighted the organization's support for the dual-career path for student-athletes and confirmed that all Cypriot universities are participating in a new program for university sports clubs.
