Olympiacos Nicosia calls for foreign referees in the second group

On April 7, the vice president of Olympiacos Nicosia, Petros Savva, issued a formal statement calling on the Cyprus Football Association (CFA) and its president, Charis Loizidis, to appoint foreign referees and VAR officials for critical matches in the league's second group. The club official, supported by Paris Fokaidis, argued that the current standard of officiating has led to a sense of injustice following the second matchday of the play-outs. While acknowledging that Olympiacos historically supports local referees, club representatives claimed that recent performance issues in matches make the presence of international officials an urgent necessity to ensure fair competition. The club stated it has already submitted relevant evidence regarding potential match-fixing concerns to the Ethics Committee and the CFA. Olympiacos officials emphasized that this request is intended to protect the integrity of the league and the reputation of local referees. They urged the CFA leadership to take decisive action to address these concerns effectively.
