Police arrest 25-year-old after pursuit in Dromolaxia

Shortly after midnight, officers from the Kiti Police Station identified a suspicious vehicle in a rural area of Dromolaxia. When police attempted to approach, the driver tried to flee and collided with a patrol vehicle. Officers fired warning shots to stop the vehicle. Upon apprehension, the driver was identified as a 25-year-old resident of Larnaca who subsequently assaulted the officers. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 93 grams of cannabis, a small quantity of cocaine, four cartridges, and a knife. Two police officers were treated at Larnaca General Hospital and later discharged. The suspect is scheduled to appear before the Larnaca District Court today for a remand hearing. The Anti-Narcotics Unit (YKAN) and the Kiti Police Station are continuing the investigation.
