Police arrest 25-year-old after chase and confrontation in Dromolaxia

Shortly after midnight on Tuesday, police officers from the Kiti station attempted to check a suspicious vehicle parked in a rural area of Dromolaxia. The driver, identified as a 25-year-old resident of Larnaca, accelerated to escape, leading to a collision with a patrol car. Officers fired warning shots during the ensuing pursuit to bring the vehicle to a halt. Upon being stopped, the suspect allegedly attacked the officers while resisting arrest. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 93 grams of cannabis, a quantity of cocaine, four live cartridges, and a knife. Two police officers sustained injuries during the struggle and were treated and discharged from Larnaca General Hospital. The suspect is scheduled to appear before the Larnaca District Court for a remand hearing. The Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) and Kiti police are conducting an ongoing investigation into the case.
