Update on the Larnaca port and marina development plans
The Cyprus Ports Authority (CPA) is expected to submit a development proposal for the Larnaca port and marina by the end of April. This proposal, coordinated with the Ministry of Transport, will prioritize the development of land areas as requested by local stakeholders. The plan is based on a previous draft from November 2024, which involves investments exceeding 86 million euros over three to four years. The original project scope included a 9.4 million euro upgrade, a 40 million euro construction of a new western quay, and an extension of the southern quay with a new passenger terminal. The CPA stated it could fund these works through internal resources and European grants. Following the termination of the previous unified development contract, Transport Minister Alexis Vafeades indicated that the government is currently evaluating various scenarios to move forward. Separately, the unrelated 'Land of Tomorrow' project is progressing to transform old refineries into a mixed-use development over 350,000 square meters, spanning the next 15 years.
