Dimitris Papadakis removed from Alma election ticket
The Executive Committee of the Alma movement has decided to remove former MEP Dimitris Papadakis from its election ticket following allegations by journalist Makarios Drousiotis involving questionable messages. The decision, passed with a 6-4 vote and one abstention, was described by movement leader Odysseas Michaelides as a necessary political move to maintain institutional credibility rather than a criminal conviction. Papadakis, who denies the allegations, has submitted findings from a private expert to the police, arguing that the messages are fabricated. In support of Papadakis, Nikos Stylianidis announced his resignation from the Limassol election ticket. Alma officials stated that they remain open to reviewing the situation if dramatic changes occur before the final ballot deadline, with the Nicosia ticket finalization scheduled for April 18. The movement clarified that it is not acting as a judge but is navigating a conflict of interest while calling for a thorough investigation by authorities.
