Nikos Stylianidis withdraws from ALMA ballot following Dimitris Papadakis' exclusion
On April 6, 2026, the Executive Secretariat of the ALMA movement revoked its decision from January 20, 2026, to include Dimitris Papadakis on its legislative election ballot. The decision followed allegations by journalist Makarios Drousiotis regarding Papadakis' reported conversations with an individual accused of corruption and criminal offenses. These allegations involve claims of influence over judicial processes and connections between high-ranking officials and corruption networks. Following this exclusion, candidate Nikos Stylianidis announced his intention to withdraw his candidacy for the Limassol district. Stylianidis criticized the Secretariat's decision as premature and ethically unacceptable, arguing that Papadakis was not given sufficient time to present forensic audit results from his mobile device. Stylianidis, a former president of the Limassol School Board and member of the AIXMI group, notified local party leadership of his departure. His exit places pressure on other AIXMI members within ALMA to evaluate their continued participation in the movement.
