Isotita police union files new lawsuit over wage and compensation calculations
The Isotita police union has announced it is filing a second lawsuit regarding the calculation of police officer wages and associated compensation. Union president Nikos Loizidis argues that officers are entitled to more than 29.5 annual paid days off instead of the current 19.5, citing excessive working hours. Additionally, the union contests the calculation of the 11x36 shift schedule, claiming it has been incorrectly valued at 4.75. If successful, the lawsuit could result in retroactive compensation for police members dating back to 1998, potentially amounting to millions of euros. Meanwhile, the Administrative Court rejected the union's request for an interim order to freeze the Chief of Police's previous decision on wage days. The court has scheduled the hearing for the main appeal on April 21, 2026. The union has expressed full confidence in the judicial process to address these grievances.
