Cyprus Police and Health Insurance Organization warn of phishing scams

The Cyprus Police and the Health Insurance Organization (HIO) have issued warnings regarding ongoing phishing attempts targeting citizens. Fraudulent SMS messages, appearing to originate from the national health system (GESY), are instructing recipients to click on links to update personal information. These phishing attempts often appear in the same message threads as legitimate notifications from the health system. Additionally, fake posts are circulating on platforms like Facebook and Instagram, falsely claiming that the police have dismantled an investment fraud network. Users are urged to ignore links and never share passwords, financial details, or login credentials. Authorities emphasize that the HIO and the Police do not request sensitive data or financial transactions through SMS or external links. Citizens are advised to rely solely on official communication channels and to delete any suspicious messages immediately.
