Police arrest 41-year-old for explosion at Deryneia residence

Authorities in the Famagusta district have arrested a 41-year-old man in connection with an explosion that occurred on April 2, 2026. The incident took place at approximately 1:30 a.m. outside the home of a 49-year-old businessman in Deryneia. The detonation caused damage to the property's garage door, though no injuries were reported. At the time of the explosion, the victim was inside the residence with his wife and children. Police stated that the victim is not known to have any prior involvement with criminal activities. The Famagusta District Court has ordered the suspect to be held in custody for four days while the investigation continues. The Famagusta Criminal Investigation Department (TAE) is currently handling the case.
