Cyprus participates in international wine exhibitions in Athens and Dusseldorf

Cyprus promoted its wine industry at two major international exhibitions: Oinorama 2026 in Athens and PROWEIN in Dusseldorf. The Oinorama event, held from March 13 to 16 at the Onassis Ready venue, featured 16 Cypriot wineries and attracted delegates from 25 countries. Hosted by Ambassador Stavros Avgoustidis and counsellor Iosif Kyprios, the pavilion showcased native varieties like Maratheftiko and Xynisteri, alongside the traditional sweet wine Commandaria. Separately, seven Cypriot wineries participated in the PROWEIN fair in Dusseldorf, which hosted 31,000 visitors from 105 countries and 3,400 exhibitors. At PROWEIN, the Cyprus stand conducted guided tastings of local varieties for the first time. Both exhibitions focused on strengthening commercial ties, meeting potential importers, and increasing export visibility for the national wine sector. The government maintains these participations as part of its strategy to highlight the quality and authenticity of Cypriot indigenous grapes in foreign markets.
