Nicosia Municipality signs contract for regeneration of Ledra-Onasagorou pedestrian streets

On April 6, 2026, the Municipality of Nicosia announced the signing of a contract for the first phase of the regeneration of the Ledra and Onasagorou pedestrian streets. The project, titled 'Phase A – Facades', was signed by Mayor Charalambos Prountzos and Michalis Andronikou, director of the construction company A.M. Andronikou Ltd. The contract is valued at 3,442,179.53 euros plus VAT. Works are scheduled to begin on April 23, 2026, with an estimated duration of 18 months. The project involves upgrading the external facades of 89 buildings, covering approximately 20,000 square meters. The interventions are part of a broader two-kilometer regeneration plan intended to upgrade the area within the Nicosia city walls. This initiative is supported by the Revitalization Program for areas along the Green Line, aiming to preserve the historical, commercial, and cultural character of the city center.
