Cyprus national futsal team travels to Albania for World Cup qualifiers

The Cyprus national futsal team has traveled to Tirana, Albania, to compete in the preliminary round of the 2028 FIFA Futsal World Cup. The team will face Albania, Latvia, and San Marino in the group stage, with matches scheduled to take place at the Olympik Park arena. The competition format requires the team to finish in the top two positions of the group to secure advancement to the main round. Matches are scheduled for April 9th against Albania, April 10th against Latvia, and April 12th against San Marino. Head coach Athos Stylianou has announced a squad of 14 players, noting that Marios Christoforou replaced the injured Paris Psylogenis. Cyprus enters this tournament aiming for their fourth consecutive qualification since 2020, following successful campaigns in 2020, 2022, and 2024. The training sessions for the squad took place in Nicosia at the Tasos Papadopoulos-Eleftheria stadium prior to their departure.
