President Christodoulides inaugurates healthcare upgrades at Paphos General Hospital

On April 6, 2026, President Nikos Christodoulides inaugurated the new Accident and Emergency Department, the Short-Stay Unit, and the Infectious Diseases Unit at Paphos General Hospital. The event was attended by Health Minister Neophytos Charalambidis, government spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis, and various local officials. President Christodoulides stated that the government is investing over 150 million euros in the healthcare sector, emphasizing the role of responsible fiscal policy. The upgrades include modern, high-tech equipment and specialized training for medical and nursing staff. The President described these efforts as essential interventions rather than mere accounting exercises. Future plans for upgrading services managed by the State Health Services Organization (OKYpY) are currently underway in Limassol and Larnaca. Construction projects in these regions are reportedly near completion.
