Protest held outside Cyprus Parliament before final session

A protest took place on Holy Monday outside the Cyprus House of Representatives as it convened for its final plenary session before self-dissolution ahead of the May 24 legislative elections. Participants, including members of the Movement Against Foreclosures and supporters from parties like PEO, demonstrated against current foreclosure policies. The agenda for this final meeting includes two government bills and 19 legislative proposals regarding non-performing loans and foreclosures. Lawmakers are also set to address regulations on property acquisition by foreigners and the social inclusion of persons with disabilities. Furthermore, the parliament will deliberate on personal mobility device regulations and two laws returned by the executive branch regarding payment accounts and consumer protection. Parties contributing proposals include EDEK, AKEL, ELAM, the Green Movement, and independent member Alexandra Attalidou.
