Adamantios Diamantis exhibition opens at the Museum of Byzantine Culture

On Saturday, March 28, 2026, the exhibition titled 'Agonies - Diamantis' was inaugurated at the Museum of Byzantine Culture in Thessaloniki. This is the first time the collection is being presented outside of Cyprus, following its initial exhibition at the A.G. Leventis Gallery in Nicosia in 2018. The event was organized by the Press and Information Office of the Republic of Cyprus, the A.G. Leventis Gallery, and the Consulate General of the Republic of Cyprus in Thessaloniki. The collection features works by the Cypriot artist Adamantios Diamantis (1900-1994) focusing on the struggles of rural women in Cyprus during historical crises. The opening ceremony was conducted by the Minister of Interior of the Republic of Cyprus, Konstantinos Ioannou. Also present were the Greek Deputy Minister of Education, Nikos Papaioannou, and the Greek Deputy Minister of Development, Stavros Kalafatis. Speakers at the event included the aforementioned officials along with the Director of the Press and Information Office, Aliki Stylianou, and the Consul General of the Republic of Cyprus.
