Trial for the Tempi train tragedy proceedings continue in Larissa

The trial regarding the Tempi train crash continues on April 6 at the Gaiopolis conference center in Larissa, focusing on the legalization of victims' families as civil parties. There are 36 defendants facing charges including dangerous interference with rail transport with potential intent. During the session, families of victims, including those of Nikos Vlachos, Tasos Koutsopoulos, Angelos Karidis, and Erietta Skalkou, were legally represented, along with representatives for the survivor Gerasimos. A legal challenge is being prepared for the Supreme Court regarding the recusal of a judge in a separate case involving missing video evidence. Defense lawyers presented new audiovisual material, including drone footage, which they claim proves site alteration. Zoi Konstantopoulou, representing some families, criticized the process and the state of the rule of law. The court is still deliberating on a request to allow audiovisual coverage and broadcast of the trial.
