Cyprus government approves 2026 easter allowance for low-income pensioners

The Cyprus Council of Ministers has officially approved the 2026 Easter allowance for low-income pensioners, following a proposal by the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare. Each eligible beneficiary will receive a payment of €250. To qualify, single-person households must have an annual income not exceeding €7,000, while two-person households must not exceed €12,000, with further adjustments for larger households. These income criteria remain consistent with those used in 2024 and 2025. A significant change for 2026 is the waiver of the €30,000 savings deposit threshold, which will no longer be applied for this year's eligibility assessment. The government estimates that approximately 10,050 individuals will receive the grant. The total expenditure for this initiative is calculated at €2,512,500. This measure is intended to provide financial support to vulnerable groups during the Easter holiday period.
