Energy infrastructure hit in series of attacks across the Persian Gulf

On April 5, 2026, multiple energy and industrial facilities in the Persian Gulf region were struck by drone and missile attacks attributed to Iran. In Kuwait, the Shuwaikh complex of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation suffered severe material damage from drone strikes, resulting in fires at processing units and the suspension of two power and water production plants. Additionally, a government office building in Kuwait was reportedly damaged. In the United Arab Emirates, fires broke out at the Borouge petrochemical complex in Abu Dhabi following the interception of aerial threats. Operations at the facility have been suspended. In Bahrain, the Bapco energy company reported a fire at a storage tank following an attack, while Saudi Arabia confirmed the interception of a cruise missile. No injuries were reported across any of the affected sites, and repair efforts are currently underway to contain the fires and prevent further spread.
