Israel warns of imminent strikes on Lebanon-Syria border crossing

The Masnaa border crossing between Lebanon and Syria has been closed following a warning from the Israeli military. Avichay Adraee, the Israeli military's Arabic-language spokesperson, stated that the Israel Defense Forces intend to strike the crossing, alleging it is being used by Hezbollah to transport military equipment. In response, Lebanese security sources confirmed an evacuation of the area, while Syrian authorities, specifically Mazen Alloush of the General Authority for Borders and Customs, denied any military use, asserting the crossing is for civilian purposes only. Additionally, Israeli media reported that military authorities are preparing a proposal to destroy villages in southern Lebanon to establish a deeper security buffer zone. The plan, as reported by Channel 12, aims to prevent local residents from returning to border areas. Currently, the Masnaa crossing remains suspended to ensure traveler safety until risks are mitigated.
