Cyprus agricultural price indices for the third quarter of 2025
The Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat) released data showing that crop production prices rose by 3.24% in the third quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. Conversely, the livestock production price index decreased by 2.44% year-on-year. Within the crop sector, grapes saw the highest increase at 49.9%, followed by barley at 34.41%, artichokes at 34.40%, tropical fruits at 34.13%, and fruit and tree crops at 33.86%. Tomato prices experienced the largest decline, dropping by 39.27%, while fresh and other vegetables fell by 30.51% and 27.58% respectively. In the livestock sector, beef prices rose by 19.25%, whereas pork prices declined by 22.94%. Furthermore, the index for intermediate agricultural consumption and investment fell by 3.91%. Significant cost reductions were noted in electricity (-11.54%), energy and lubricants (-9.59%), motor fuels (-8.03%), veterinary medicines (-7.2%), and animal feed (-6.61%). Conversely, costs for seeds and seedlings rose by 6.25%, and maintenance and repair of buildings increased by 5.65%.
