Giorgos Metzakis selected as preferred candidate for Cyta CEO position

The Board of Directors of the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (Cyta) has reportedly selected Giorgos Metzakis as the new Chief Executive Officer. This decision follows a selection process involving five candidates, which was facilitated by an external advisor to ensure transparency. The position became vacant following the resignation of the former CEO, Andreas Neocleous, who stepped down in November 2025 for professional opportunities abroad. Neocleous had held the position since January 2019. While reports indicate that the board has completed interviews and finalized their choice, Cyta has neither officially confirmed nor denied the selection. The appointment remains subject to final approval by the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cyprus. The selection process began in November 2025 following an earlier announcement by Neocleous in August 2025 regarding his intention to depart.
