Road incidents and weather warnings reported across Cyprus

On April 5, 2026, several incidents were reported across Cyprus. A collision between a bus and a saloon car occurred at the Agios Dometios checkpoint in Nicosia; the driver of the car was hospitalized, while no bus passengers were injured. Additionally, a driver was hospitalized after a separate collision on the Limassol–Nicosia motorway near Kornos, where a vehicle hit a central guardrail. In a third incident, a driver had to be extricated by the fire department after crashing into a sign at the junction of Tseri toward Analiontas and Marki in the Nicosia district. The driver was subsequently taken to the Nicosia General Hospital. Separately, police issued weather warnings due to heavy rain affecting visibility and causing water accumulation on the Paphos–Limassol highway and in the Ypsonas area of Limassol. Authorities urged drivers to maintain low speeds, keep safe distances, and keep headlights on. Conditions in the collision cases remain under police investigation.
