Multiple traffic accidents reported in Cyprus due to severe weather
On Sunday, April 5, 2026, several road accidents occurred across Cyprus amid torrential rain and slippery road conditions. A driver was hospitalized following a single-vehicle collision on the Limassol-Nicosia highway near Kornos, where the car struck a central barrier. Separately, a two-car collision took place on the same highway near Kalavasos, resulting in one injury and temporary traffic congestion. Another incident involved a vehicle becoming immobilized on the Nicosia-Larnaca highway near Lympia following a crash. In Nicosia, a bus and a saloon car collided in the Agios Dometios area, with one driver taken to the hospital with non-serious injuries. Authorities issued warnings for drivers to reduce speed, maintain safe distances, and use headlights due to poor visibility and water accumulation on the roads. Police are currently investigating all reported incidents.
