President Christodoulides addresses potential inflation due to the Middle East conflict
On Saturday, President of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides stated that the government is prepared to introduce additional measures to mitigate the economic impact of the Middle East conflict on consumers. Speaking at the Alefka outpost in Pyrgos Tyllirias, he acknowledged public concern regarding daily increases in fuel prices. He noted that the state has already implemented measures exceeding 200 million euros, with a specific fuel price relief measure coming into effect on Saturday. Christodoulides mentioned that he has instructed the Consumer Protection Service to conduct daily inspections to prevent price gouging. The government intends to continue monitoring the situation and maintains that its fiscal policy allows for further interventions if necessary. Additionally, the President stated that international efforts are currently underway to de-escalate the regional crisis.
