Drones recreate Titanic in Belfast for BBC campaign

A fleet of 950 drones was used in Belfast harbor to recreate the outline of the RMS Titanic. This aerial installation was produced as part of the BBC's 'Made Of Here' campaign in Northern Ireland. The footage was featured in a special film broadcast on BBC One Northern Ireland and BBC Two Northern Ireland at the exact time the vessel originally departed in 1912. The project was inspired by the documentary series 'Titanic Sinks Tonight,' which aired in December 2025. This series became the BBC's most successful historical documentary of the year, attracting over two million viewers across the United Kingdom. Based on letters, interviews, memoirs, and public records, the documentary chronicles the disaster minute-by-minute. BBC Head of Historical Productions Simon Young noted that the project provided a symbolic way to bring the ship back to its construction site. The event took place on a Monday to mark the campaign's launch.
