Two brothers convicted after domestic dispute in Crete
Two brothers from Heraklion, Crete, were sentenced by a local court following a dispute involving mutual lawsuits. The 60-year-old brother received an eight-month suspended sentence for domestic threat and abuse, while his 63-year-old brother received a six-month suspended sentence for domestic abuse. A third individual, the wife of the 63-year-old, was acquitted of all charges. The conflict originated from a disagreement regarding a neighbor washing away African dust with a hose, a move supported by one brother but opposed by the other. Tensions escalated further over a dispute regarding payment of a shared water bill. The lawyer for the 60-year-old stated that his client intends to seek peace, although the other party has rejected such reconciliation. Defense counsel expressed an intention to appeal the convictions to a higher court.
