Court rejects defense request in private criminal prosecution of Thanasis Nikolaou case
A court has rejected a defense request to hear testimony from the Senior Registrar regarding the management of Thanasis Nikolaou’s estate. Defense counsel argued that the estate's management closed in 2008 without a reopening order, claiming that Andriana Nikolaou no longer holds the status of administrator. The court ruled that it is premature to hear such testimony before the five defendants in the private criminal prosecution have formally entered pleas. The case involves five defendants: forensic pathologist Panikos Stavrianos, former Limassol Police Chief Andreas Iatropoulos, former CID Limassol head Nikos Sofokleous, former rural police official Christakis Nathanael, and one additional individual. The court has scheduled the next session for April 29 at 10:30, during which it will deliver decisions on all remaining preliminary objections. If the objections are overruled, the defendants have been instructed to be prepared to respond to the charges. The current legal proceedings arise from a private criminal prosecution initiated by the Nikolaou family.
