Direct Democracy party replaces two parliamentary candidates

The political party Direct Democracy in Cyprus has announced the withdrawal of two parliamentary candidates from its electoral lists. Valeri Tarapai, who was running in the Kyrenia district, and Alfredos Alferdou, who was running in the Paphos district, have both voluntarily withdrawn from the race. While official party statements cite voluntary withdrawal, reports indicate that Tarapai left following public reactions regarding a prior conviction for drug-related offenses in the occupied areas. Alferdou stated he withdrew due to disillusionment with modern political campaigning methods, such as the use of promotional videos. To fill these vacancies, the party has appointed Kyriakos Komodromos as the primary replacement for Kyrenia and Savvas Ellinas as the secondary replacement for Paphos. The party further noted that the first substitute candidate for Paphos declined to participate in the upcoming May elections. These changes are for the elections scheduled for May.
