Human remains discovered on cargo ship damaged in Strait of Hormuz

The shipping company Precious Shipping announced today the discovery of human remains aboard the Thai-flagged cargo ship Mayuree Naree. The vessel was struck by projectiles on March 11 while transiting the Strait of Hormuz after departing Khalifa Port in the United Arab Emirates. Following the incident, twenty crew members were rescued in Thailand by mid-March, while three others remained missing. The company stated that search operations were conducted under difficult conditions due to flooding in the engine room and fire damage, making immediate identification of the remains impossible. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards previously claimed in March that they had targeted the Mayuree Naree and a Liberian-flagged ship for failing to heed warnings. Investigations into the identity and number of the deceased are ongoing.
