Update on electoral roll preparation for Cyprus parliamentary elections
Cyprus election officials have received 10,031 new voter registration applications as of April 2. Menelaos Vassiliou, Head of the elections service, stated that the January 2 electoral roll, which contained 561,000 citizens, is currently being updated to remove deceased individuals and integrate new applicants. The finalized list will be published on April 6 for a ten-day period to allow for public objections. After this period, the lists will be finalized, and the Parliament is scheduled to dissolve on April 23 to officially pave the way for the May elections. Additionally, approximately 6,000 requests were filed by existing voters to cast ballots from abroad. Polling stations are expected to be established in Athens, Thessaloniki, London, and Brussels, while stations in Patras and Manchester are unlikely to open due to insufficient voter numbers. Authorities are still reviewing cases where individuals applied for both voter registration and overseas voting status simultaneously.
