EAC continues smart meter rollout in Cyprus for April

The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) has announced the continuation of its smart meter installation program throughout April across all districts. Work will be carried out in Nicosia (Latsia, Dali, and Tseri), Limassol (city center), Larnaca (Oroklini), Famagusta (Deryneia), and Paphos (Geroskipou). During the replacement process, consumers should expect a temporary power outage lasting no more than 20 minutes for safety reasons. The EAC has clarified that these smart meter installations are completely free of charge, as they are funded by the authority and the European Recovery and Resilience Fund. This initiative is part of a larger effort to modernize electrical infrastructure. The authority has issued an apology for any potential inconvenience to residents during these scheduled works. Additionally, the EAC warns citizens against potential fraud, reminding the public that they never charge fees for these meter upgrades.
