Justice minister addresses allegations by Makarios Drousiotis

Justice and Public Order Minister Kostas Fytiris stated on Friday that the government is waiting for journalist Makarios Drousiotis to submit concrete evidence to support his public allegations regarding an organized network involving public officials. A specialized police team has been appointed to investigate the claims, and the minister emphasized that the process must be conducted through official institutions rather than social media. While Fytiris noted that the investigation should conclude as soon as possible, he provided no specific timeframe. He also confirmed that authorities are conducting ex officio investigations into other claims, including allegations of the rape of a minor. Furthermore, police are examining counter-complaints filed by Michalakys Christodoulou and Dimitris Papadakis against Drousiotis. Fytiris stated that if necessary, a foreign expert may be consulted, though he stressed the importance of supporting and improving local institutions rather than replacing them. The finalized police report will be submitted to the Minister and subsequently presented to the Council of Ministers for further action.
