EDEK vice-president files complaint against Makarios Drousiotis over social media posts

Morfakis Solomonidis, Deputy President of EDEK and a legislative candidate, has filed a formal complaint with the Minister of Justice, Kostas Fytiris, against researcher and author Makarios Drousiotis. The complaint follows posts made by Drousiotis on social media on March 30 and 31, 2026, alleging that the content contained unfounded claims and false information. Solomonidis denies any prior relationship or communication with Michalakīs Christodoulou and has demanded a digital forensic examination of his mobile phone to clear his name. The legal counsel for the EDEK candidate has requested that Facebook remove the disputed posts, claiming they violate personal data laws and damage the candidate's reputation. Furthermore, Solomonidis intends to pursue civil defamation lawsuits and private criminal proceedings against Drousiotis. The complaint urges authorities to summon Drousiotis to present evidence substantiating his claims or face potential criminal charges for spreading false information. Both individuals are candidates in the upcoming legislative elections, with Drousiotis running for the Volt party.
