EDEK and Volt candidates exchange legal complaints amid investigation
Nicosia police are conducting a complex investigation into allegations of a coordinated network involving political figures, judges, and former officials, as disclosed in social media posts by investigative journalist and Volt candidate Makarios Drousiotis. Drousiotis alleged that Morfakis Solomonides, deputy president of EDEK, exchanged messages with former Supreme Court judge Michalakis Christodoulou. On April 1, Solomonides filed a formal complaint against Drousiotis, accusing him of spreading false news, forging documents, and defamation. Solomonides handed over his mobile phone to authorities for forensic examination and has requested a swift investigation to clear his name. Similarly, EDEK parliamentary candidate Demetris Papadakis also filed a criminal complaint against Drousiotis, denying any connection to the judge or the alleged messages. Attorney Nikos Clerides, representing Santes, also provided statements to the police regarding the allegations. Authorities are currently processing the complaints alongside their own ex officio investigation, while Solomonides’s legal team has requested the removal of the contested posts from Facebook.
