World Autism Awareness Day activities in Cyprus

Tasoula Georgiadou, President of the Pancyprian Association for People with Autism, stated that global statistics show one child in every 36 is on the autism spectrum. Speaking on the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day, she noted that while the causes of autism remain scientifically undefined, early diagnosis, intervention, and education are essential. For the 16th consecutive year, the association organized public awareness marches across Cyprus on April 2. These events, held under the auspices of First Lady Philippa Christodoulides-Karsera, aim to promote social inclusion. Landmarks across the country and the world were illuminated in blue, the color associated with autism awareness, to emphasize the rights of individuals on the spectrum. Georgiadou reiterated that the primary goal of the association is to foster state and societal acceptance of neurodiversity.
