Nicosia District Court rules on evidence disclosure in case of 14-year-old Stylianos
On Thursday, the Nicosia District Court issued a ruling regarding the criminal investigation into the death of 14-year-old Stylianos. District Judge Pavlos Agapitos rejected the defense's request for full disclosure of the November 30, 2020, criminal investigators' report. The court cited a serious risk of infringing on the rights of third parties as the primary reason for withholding the full document. However, the court ordered the prosecution to provide the defense with all supporting evidentiary material contained in the report's appendices. This includes all testimonies, documents, and other evidence gathered during the investigation, regardless of whether the prosecution intends to use them in trial. The defense had filed the request on March 27, arguing the report is directly relevant to the case. The investigation was originally submitted to the Attorney General to determine if criminal charges should be filed.
