Cyprus retail trade turnover records growth in February 2026

The Statistical Service of Cyprus reported an increase in retail trade performance for February 2026. The Turnover Value Index for retail trade, excluding motor vehicles, rose by 3.3 percent compared to the same month in the previous year. Simultaneously, the Turnover Volume Index increased by 4.1 percent, reflecting a growth in real sales volume. These indices use 2021 as the base year, with the average turnover of that year set at 100 units. According to reported data for the first two months of 2026, the value index shows an increase of 5.9 percent, while the volume index rose by 6.8 percent. The Statistical Service compiles this data monthly through telephone and email surveys conducted with local businesses. The index figures are calculated excluding value-added tax but include other applicable duties and taxes. These metrics serve as short-term indicators of market activity and consumer trends in the retail sector.
