Cyprus announces agricultural support scheme for fertilizer costs
The Department of Agriculture of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment has announced a financial support scheme to help farmers manage rising costs for fertilizers and agricultural supplies. This initiative is a response to the energy crisis caused by the current geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Eligible beneficiaries include professional farmers, legal entities, and cooperatives registered in the Registry of Farmers and Agricultural Holdings under Law 26(I)/2016. The subsidy covers up to 15% of the final invoice value, excluding VAT, for purchases made between April 1, 2026, and May 31, 2026. Financial support ranges from a minimum of €50 to a maximum of €5,000 per applicant. Eligible expenditures include fertilizers, excluding compost and manure, as well as specific supplies such as silage nets, twine, films, seedlings, and pesticides. Applicants must be registered in specific categories, including 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 11, 13, 16, 17, 24, 25, 26, or 27 of the designated legislation.
