Maritime career outreach programs for students in Limassol

The University of Nicosia and the Deputy Ministry of Shipping have organized separate maritime awareness initiatives at the BSM Maritime Training Centre in Limassol Marina. The university has scheduled an event for April 7, 2026, aimed at high school and vocational students to showcase its Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Science, covering navigation, engineering, and law. Separately, the Deputy Ministry of Shipping recently hosted its third annual 'Getting to know the world of Shipping' event for 95 students from Limassol and Paphos. This initiative, conducted in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, featured experiential workshops using bridge and engine room simulators to demonstrate technical maritime operations. Both programs aim to inform students about career prospects within the shipping industry and the evolving blue economy. Participants at the ministry-led event were introduced to the structure of shipping companies and practical professional pathways. These efforts highlight a coordinated push to connect Cyprus's youth with the maritime sector through both academic and hands-on training.
