Eurostat reports 2025 surge in short-term rental bookings via online platforms
According to data released by Eurostat, short-term rental bookings across the European Union surged in the fourth quarter of 2025, recording an increase of 10.9% compared to the same period in 2024. Total bookings for the fourth quarter reached 172.3 million nights. Over the entire year of 2025, 951.6 million nights were booked globally, representing an 11.4% increase over 2024. Cyprus recorded a significant growth of 30.1% in overnight stays during the fourth quarter, ranking second in the EU behind Malta, which saw a 37.5% increase. In the third quarter of 2025, Cyprus reported 3,104,502 bookings. Regionally, the Jadranska Hrvatska region in Croatia was the most popular destination in the third quarter of 2025 with 27.7 million nights. Andalusia in Spain and Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur in France followed with 19.5 million and 16.9 million nights respectively. The data covers bookings made through platforms such as Airbnb, Booking, and Expedia.
