Alleged incident at the Green Line in Nicosia
On April 1, Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman reported an alleged attack on civilians at Yiğitler Burcu in occupied Nicosia. According to Erhurman, a group located on the southern side of the Green Line threw stones and explosive devices at civilians around 13:30. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident. Erhurman characterized the event as a predictable provocation given the date, which marks the anniversary of the EOKA struggle. He expressed strong criticism regarding the alleged lack of security measures in the sensitive area. The Turkish Cypriot administration has contacted the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) and the government of the Republic of Cyprus. Authorities have requested an immediate investigation into the claims. There is no official confirmation from the Republic of Cyprus or UN forces regarding the veracity of these allegations.
