Final lineup confirmed for the 2026 FIFA World Cup
The qualification process for the 2026 FIFA World Cup has concluded, confirming all 48 participating teams. The tournament will feature 12 groups, with the opening match scheduled for June 11 in Mexico, the host country of Group A. Guillermo Ochoa, a goalkeeper playing for AEL Limassol, is in contention for a record-breaking sixth World Cup appearance following a reported injury to Luis Angel Malagon. FIFA has announced a record distribution of 330 million euros to clubs, which will also benefit Cypriot teams with players in the tournament. In Group B, Bosnia and Herzegovina qualified after defeating Wales and Italy in penalty shootouts during the European playoffs. Ivan Sunjic of Pafos FC played a significant role in the Bosnian qualification campaign. This edition of the tournament will take place across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
