EDEK responds to allegations made by journalist Makarios Drousiotis
The political party EDEK has issued a formal statement responding to allegations made by journalist and parliamentary candidate Makarios Drousiotis. Drousiotis had reportedly linked the party to alleged conspiracies, leading EDEK to dismiss his claims as products of an overactive imagination and unfounded. In its statement, the party accused Drousiotis of aligning with Turkish positions on the Cyprus issue and suggested that his motives are linked to the upcoming elections. EDEK criticized Drousiotis's association with the Volt party, which it described as promoting national capitulation. Despite labeling the claims as baseless, the party officially called for the relevant state authorities and the executive branch to conduct a thorough and immediate investigation into the matter. The party stressed the importance of transparency, arguing that public institutions should not be dragged through unverified scenarios. EDEK affirmed its commitment to remain active and confront the accusations, characterizing itself as a shield against political agendas it views as harmful to the country.
