Cyprus government announces additional 100 million euro support to address regional crisis

Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis stated that the Cyprus government is implementing measures to mitigate the impact of the ongoing regional crisis on energy prices and inflation. To support the economy, the cabinet recently decided to allocate an additional 100 million euros, supplementing a 100 million euro package that was already in effect. These funds are designated for reducing excise taxes on motor fuels, providing assistance to affected economic sectors, and expanding the zero-rated VAT list for essential products. The spokesperson emphasized that the government's ability to act is based on a stable economic foundation resulting from its current fiscal policy. Officials continue to draft various scenarios to prepare for future potential escalations in energy costs and inflation. No further adjustments to the fiscal strategy have been finalized at this time.
