Cypriot government addresses regional crisis impact on energy and economy

Government spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis announced that Cyprus is prepared to implement further measures to mitigate the economic impact of the ongoing Middle East regional crisis. Speaking in Paphos, he stated that the government continuously evaluates data regarding energy price fluctuations and inflation. The administration has already implemented aid packages totaling 200 million euros to support citizens and affected sectors. This amount includes a previous 100 million euro relief program and an additional 100 million euros approved by the Cabinet last week. These funds are allocated for reducing consumption taxes on vehicle fuel and applying a zero-rate VAT on selected essential products. Letymbiotis noted that while the depth and duration of the regional instability remain unknown, the state maintains a stable economic foundation. The government is currently developing various scenarios to prepare for future challenges. Officials maintain that these fiscal measures are a proactive response to the volatility caused by regional instability.
