Spanish police dismantle sophisticated drug smuggling tunnel in Ceuta

Spanish authorities have uncovered an elaborate underground tunnel network used for smuggling cannabis from Morocco into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta. The discovery followed a year-long investigation, with operations spanning Ceuta, Andalusia, and Galicia. The facility, hidden beneath an industrial warehouse, featured a three-level design equipped with railway tracks, wagons, pulleys, and small cranes for transporting drug pallets. To avoid detection, the smugglers installed advanced soundproofing and pumping systems, concealing the entrance behind a large industrial freezer. During the investigation and subsequent raids, police arrested 27 suspects, including one of the ringleaders on the night of March 26. Authorities seized more than 17 tons of cannabis resin, 1.4 million euros in cash, and 17 luxury vehicles. The network was reportedly distributing narcotics throughout Spain and other parts of Europe. Investigations were prompted by a series of drug seizures across multiple Spanish regions.
